Closures/Cancelations

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Chill is in the air and the cold weather is upon us.  That means that it’s time for the students to be wearing coats, hats, gloves, shoes, and other WARM clothing.  Hoodies/sweatshirts and sandals do not provide the necessary warmth the students will need during the course of the day.  All students will be expected to be outside if the temperature is 29o or above. We appreciate your support and continued efforts in ensuring the children are prepared for the time that they will spend outdoors.

We have a very busy November ahead of us.  The 8th grade will be heading to Washington, D.C. from November 4-7.  Parents and students need to be sure all information and documents have been submitted.  Due to extraordinary efforts on the part of our co-directors Mrs. Bach and Ms. Graves we are scheduled to VISIT THE WHITE HOUSE!!! What excitement!

On November 19, our Arts Department is holding its 3rd Annual Arts Night.  The evening will begin with a spaghetti dinner from 5:30-6:30 sponsored by the Music Department. The even will continue from 6:30-7:30 with all Arts instructors who will be sharing their craft. To conclude the evening at 7:30 the M.E.S.M.S. band will be performing for all in attendance.  Given that this evening occurs shortly after Veteran’s Day, we will be celebrating and honoring our Veterans throughout the night.  More details are included in the newsletter.

In addition, the Ski Club will be running for its third year.  An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. for all interested students grades 5-8.  At this time the dates, time, and cost of the program will be shared.  Let it snow!

Don’t forget that Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday and Tuesday November 24 & 25 from 12:00 p.m. on.  If you have not yet received communication from your teacher/team please be sure to contact your student’s homeroom teacher to establish a time for a conference.  Please note that we meet with as many families as possible on these two days.  However, if there are many conferences to schedule, an alternate date and time may have to be scheduled.

As always, if you have any thoughts, questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact the administration at 538-5074 or by email.

Best regards,

Erica A. Faginski

Principal

The following information will assist you when the weather is uncooperative.  Emergency closure/delayed start decisions are made beginning at

5:30 A.M. for the day.  Information is provided to the following media:  WGGB (Ch. 40)WWLP (Ch. 22), and WSHM-CBS (Ch. 3) on the television and the following radio stations:  WHYN (560 AM and 93 FM), WTTT (100.9 FM), WHMP (1400 AM and 99.3 FM), WAQY (102 FM), and WMAS (1450 AM and 95 FM).  Also, when schools are closed for the day, all classes and school activities are canceled.  When we have a delayed start, every effort is made to maintain timely bus service every day.  But, when road conditions are poor, or the weather is extremely cold, bus schedules can be disrupted or slowed.  We appreciate parents’ understanding and flexibility
